Timothée
What’s your ultimate “I almost died but I didn’t” story?
"So, hopefully there is no such story yet, but let me tell you about the first time I was really scared of a bad accident during early winter. A week earlier, I'd used mountaineering gear, including crampons, for the very first time. Crampons are awesome; they're like superpowers, I felt like an ibex! That week, I went out a few times near Schwarzsee and really wanted to climb little Spitzfluh. On my last day, I went solo to conquer Spitzfluh, with its early season snow and ice dress, with my newly acquired crampon skill. I learned the hard way that going up isn't the same as going down, and that an ice axe is super important for safety. Getting down was a nightmare – no cell service, really steep and unstable terrain, tired legs... I called my family as soon as I was safe."
If you were a piece of mountaineering gear, what would you be?
"My loyal neon green merino underpant. Down for all adventures, cosy, roomy, visible and ever present, even in the darkest hours, warm, can last for a week without signs of fatigue, always smell good."
What meal makes you cry with happiness after 12 hours of hiking?
"I'm a gourmet, so anything will do (and anything is always good after such an effort), but a good hot risotto accompanied by a sweet treat for dessert will melt my heart!"
If you were sponsored by a totally useless brand, what would it be?
"Crocs, the forgotten king of huts."
What’s your personal theme song when morale is low, fatigue sets in, and the cold hits?
"The rock band Smash Into Pieces is always a pleasure to listen to get boosted. On a quieter side, Worakls and Overwerk make a wonderful job at making me travel and dream in my mind with their instrumental journey."
